Rudolf Cupcakes

It’s been a while since I posted anything. I think of things all the time I should blog about, but it just doesn’t make it to the site. So this year I made cupcakes to take to my corporate Christmas party. I always want to show off my baking skills, but I don’t think I have found the right audience to enjoy them yet. Of course, my kids are my biggest fans. They are always ready to eat sweets and so good about complimenting the cook. I decided to take on the Rudolf cupcakes,  because I thought they were so darn cute! See for yourself…

Reindeer Cupcakes

They were actually pretty easy to make. I would say the hardest part was breaking up the pretzels just right to make the antlers. As you see in the photo these are large pretzels, but the latest batch I made used small...

Sibling Rivalry

The other day I was talking to Trinity (age 11) on my Bluetooth while driving between work buildings at lunch. She was talking about several different topics, but then started talking about calling her grandma. My brother is living with my mom at the moment. His son, Trinity’s cousin, is visiting for the week. So she was telling me about getting to talk to him on the phone.

Trinity: I talked to Jacob on the phone, Mom! But I didn’t know what to talk about with a 15 year old boy.
Me: He’s the same age as your brother, just talk to him like you talk to Isaac.
Trinity: But I never have anything nice to say to Isaac.

I want to believe this is normal. But I also can’t help but think I should do more to make them have civil conversations...

What little girls are made of….

Since when did young girls learn how to swindle and shake down other parents for money? While sitting at work today, I get a text from my daughter: “Delete Cassidy from your phone.” She had my attention, since ‘Cassidy’ was a name associated with “best friend” just a couple weeks ago. Young girls have a very volatile social life. That… I DO remember. Yet it’s still hard for me to keep up with who the best friend is from one day to the next. I laughed to myself, as I knew removing her friend from my contact list would only be to symbolize how upset she is with her now ex-friend.Sad Girl Anime

“What happened?” .. I had to ask. I knew she wanted to talk about it, or else she wouldn’t have demanded I remove her friend from my phone out of the blue...

We were the short-time owner of a hamster…

In fact, it was such a short time, I didn’t get any pics of the little thing. The mother of children of short stature is much like that of any average family, just with stools….right? Sure, there are moments of picking up the pieces when their feelings are hurt after being bullied, answering hard questions, or teaching them to adapt when challenges come their way. The rest of the time is much like any other family. We still try to teach them the important lessons in life.

I was taking a nap one afternoon and woke up to my daughter, Trinity, begging to keep a hamster someone in the neighborhood was giving away for free. The thought of getting her a hamster had crossed my mind in the past, but the expense of the cage and all other supplies usually changed my mind pretty quick...

It’s About Time…

For anyone who has stopped by my site, and the few who have registered, I want to apologize for taking so long to post to my blog. About time… I can’t say I don’t have time to post to my blog. I take the time to watch some TV, scroll through Facebook, play some Candy Crush… My blog is what I really want to get started. So what better way to start a blog than to talk about not having time to start a blog?! I’m new to owning a webpage and having a blog, so bear with me.

I turn to my left and see my yorkie on the back of the couch behind me; lying there, staring through his eyebrows as if to say, “Can we go to bed now?” I admit, it’s a little later than you will usually find me awake, but it’s Saturday! Well….Sunday now. If you have a dog, you know they like schedules...
